Equal Footing: Women in the Southern Tenant Farmers Union

Arkansas State University Heritage Sites will present a new exhibit at the Southern Farmers Tenant Museum in Tyronza titled “Equal Footing: Women in the Southern Tenant Farmers Union.” According to exhibit curator Donna L. Shelton, Heritage Studies Doctoral Student at A-State, the history of women in the Arkansas Labor Movement is an underrepresented aspect of the state’s progress toward fair labor practices and in agricultural studies. The Southern Tenant Farmers Union provides an exceptional case study on the impact of women in such movements during the years of the Depression and beyond.

Join us for the opening on Thursday, January 25 at 10:30 AM. The exhibit will be on display through September 7, 2024.
